INTELLIGENCE FOR FISHERIES

AI for Fisheries & Fish Finding

Custom AI fisheries and fish-finding decision-support systems using available sonar, ocean data, and catch history to plan fishing-area exploration.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Connect the observations behind a better-informed fishing plan.

Fish-finding decisions can involve many observations that are difficult to compare manually. Southern IoT develops systems that bring relevant sonar outputs, environmental observations, positioning information, and historical catch records into an agreed analytical workflow. We start by assessing data availability and reference records, then evaluate models against the operating area, season, and fishing method before proposing broader use.

WHAT WE BUILD

What we build for your project

01

Sonar and observation integration

Assess accessible sonar outputs, underwater imagery, and vessel observations, then build ingestion and review workflows around supported data formats.

02

Ocean and environmental context

Combine available temperature, ocean-color or chlorophyll data, and other licensed environmental sources with spatial and temporal context.

03

Fishing-area decision support

Develop models that rank or visualize areas worth surveying, using the data and operating constraints agreed for the project.

04

Catch records and model evaluation

Connect recorded catch outcomes with trip information to evaluate predictions, review changes over time, and refine the approach with domain experts.

What we need to get started

  • Available sonar, imagery, and environmental data with usage rights
  • Trip positions, fishing methods, and recorded catch outcomes
  • Target species, operating areas, seasons, and evaluation criteria

Agreed project deliverables

  • A fisheries data assessment and scoped pilot
  • Maps or dashboards that explain analytical outputs
  • Evaluation against field reference data and an agreed integration plan

BEFORE WE START

Before we start

Can AI pinpoint fish with certainty?

The system supports survey and fishing-area decisions; it does not guarantee a catch. Outputs depend on observations, target species, location, season, and the data used to evaluate the model.

Do we need new sonar equipment?

We first review the output and accessibility of existing equipment. Any additional sensors, adapters, or data subscriptions are discussed after that assessment.

Can the system be tested on our fishing grounds?

A pilot can be scoped around your area, reference records, and operating methods. We define how results will be compared with field observations before development.
